Romeo & Juliet
in Sprite Vision was a project I did for a second-semester ninth-grade
English class. We were reading (or had finished reading - that was nearly
four years ago at the time of this writing, so you can't expect me to
remember every detail) Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Our teacher was
a really nice lady by the name of Ms. Wagner. She had this weird illusion
going on where it looked like she had four legs, but that's neither here nor
there.
For our final
Romeo & Juliet assignment, we were supposed to do something relating to R&J,
which "expressed our talents". Or something to that extent. I had been
wanting to do a sprite comic for quite awhile, and I saw this as a perfect
opportunity to start. And so I did.
"Gameopolis",
the word made out of various sprites, fonts, and Paint tools, is the name of
the sprite comic series I had decided to do. The origin of the name comes
from an old comic I drew on my papers in middle school. Basically, every
strip was just this city consisting of three slanted buildings and a winding
road, getting destroyed by some arcade game. Such as Pong, or Space
Invaders. My "most famous" comic (I didn't show them to anyone, so "most
famous" means my signature strip that I referenced a lot) was one in which
Pac-Man ate two of the buildings, and was chased by Blinky, who knocked over
the remaining one. You can still see two of the buildings for "M" in the
title. And the Pac-Man is also a reference to said strip.
I'm rambling.
There are a few
things I want to discuss about some of the characters present, but I fear
I've used up too much space on this page as it is. I'll try and spread it
out over some of the other pages, too. So, if you feel you're up to it, you
can scroll up and hit the "Next Page" button, now. |
