We've now
progressed completely from Romeo & Juliet to full-on video game-referencing
sprite comic.
The extra life joke was one I had
thought up much earlier on, and had been dying to use it. As it stands, it
still remains one of my favorite jokes in this entire thing. Yet another one
I should think about applying elsewhere in the future. We'll see if it
springs up in any of my other creations, but if it does, you'll know why.
I recall being very proud of that
explosion. It was a very nice explosion, and it was definitely something
worth being proud of. I'll admit that the basic act of using random red
ovals to represent something exploding was "borrowed" from Jay Resop's
"Neglected Mario Character Comix". Which was more or less my main
inspiration to start doing sprite comics.
I even threw in a Mortal Kombat
reference. I was pulling out all the stops at this point.
This only just occured to me, but
this fight is more like Link fighting Link. Since when Kirby gets a sword,
he also gets that little green Link-esque cap to wear. On a side note, I'm
not sure why I felt the need to leave myself in every single panel, but I
totally did, and not one of you can stop me. Unless you can time travel. You
can't time travel, can you? |
